Potatoes have a shallow and poorly developed root system. This limits its ability to consume nutrients from large volumes of soil, and at the same time it is characterized by increased requirements for nutrients necessary for obtaining a high yield. Therefore, potatoes need a significant supply of sufficient nutrients.
Application of mineral fertilizers
The potato nutrition system consists of the main fertilizer, pre-sowing fertilizer and top dressing. We recommend applying KALIUM MAKOSH at a rate of 120-250 kg/ha as the main fertilizer for potatoes, and SUPERFOSFAT MAKOSH z mikroelementami (B, Zn) at a rate of 100-150 kg/ha for basic soil cultivation. The type of fertilizer depends on the soil and climatic conditions and the characteristics of the variety.
Potatoes are very demanding on nitrogen and sulfur nutrition, so it is recommended to apply PULAN AMMONIUM NITRITE – 200-400 kg/ha and MagSul 100-180 kg/ha or a fertilizer that combines nitrogen and sulfur SALETROSAN 30 – 150-200 kg/ha for the pre-sowing treatment.
When planting potatoes, POLIFOSKA 6 (100-150 kg/ha) should be applied.
Foliar fertilization
A modern and effective potato nutrition system should be aimed at a balanced supply of macro-, meso- and microelements.
The first nutrition of potatoes by leaf is recommended to be carried out in the phase of 4-6 leaves with the following fertilizers:
-
Urea – 7 kg/ha
-
Magnesium sulphate crystalline (heptahydrate) – 5-10 kg/ha;
-
MAKOSH 10-53-10 – 2-3 kg/ha or MAKOSH P 30 1-2 l/ha;
-
MAKOSH Mn 11 – 1-2 l/ha.
The second foliar nutrition should be carried out in the phase of 10 or more leaves, since the formation of the leaf apparatus takes place at this time. Foliar nutrition at this time is extremely important for obtaining a high yield in the future. We recommend applying the following fertilizers:
-
Urea – 7 kg/ha
-
Magnesium sulphate crystalline (heptahydrate) – 5-10 kg/ha;
-
MAKOSH 21-21-21 – 2-3 kg/ha;
-
MAKOSH Zn 8 – 1-2 l/ha.
The third nutrition of potatoes should be carried out in the phase of the row closure to support the intensification of photosynthetic activity of the leaves and ensure the outflow of plastic substances for the formation of tubers, we recommend the following tank mixture:
-
Urea – 7 kg/ha
-
Magnesium sulphate crystalline (heptahydrate) – 5-10 kg/ha;
-
MAKOSH 10-20-30 – 2-3 kg/ha;
-
MAKOSH B 11 – 1-2 l/ha.
Potatoes produce high and high-quality yields only if they are properly supplied with all nutrients.
To protect potatoes from spring frosts, we recommend treating the plants with MAKOSH L 17-43 – 0.5-1 l/ha, fertilizers can minimize the effects of low temperatures on plants. Before planting, the planting material is treated with MAKOSH Universal – 1.5 l/t of seeds.
